St John’s cares for their students and believes that all children have the right to be educated in a warm and nurturing environment. Success, both academic and emotional, is at the core of our pedagogy.
A visit to our classrooms will ensure that potential students experience a school that is fun but productive, inside and out. A day at our school would stretch from morning fitness, a spelling game, a Mathematics inquiry about shopping, a lap around the bike track at lunch and an afternoon of visual and creative arts. Lunch in the NEGS Dining Room is a bit like being at Hogwarts!
Staff and students at St John’s appreciate that visiting a new school is a daunting experience. Welcoming a visitor and making sure that they have a great day is part of the wellbeing development of our students. Manners and respect work alongside responsibility to ensure that our school is a community that cares for others.
Kindergarten and Transition students are invited to attend our Orientation Programs in Terms 3 and 4. A day of fun and games is balanced by early literacy and numeracy work. Fine motor skill activities also assist our staff to assess and provide feedback to parents about their child’s readiness for school. Students will take home pieces of work and a photo booklet of their day. What a lovely reminder of a child’s early school experiences.
Older students are welcome to visit our school on any day of the week. Staff will continue with the normal curriculum implementation and are experts at quickly adapting and adjusting their classroom activities to include visiting children. Parents are provided with feedback about their child’s day from the classroom teacher.
St John’s is a family-friendly, Christian environment, where we promote an atmosphere that ensures that boys and girls are engaged, motivated and self-directed in their learning. We look forward to welcoming your family.
